18 May Hide Your HDTV with Mirrors
We’ve dealt with just about every question imaginable about home theater and audio video gear here at PAC-NJ, northern New Jersey’s source for home theater equipment , installation services and advice. But here’s one we hear over and over: “I want a new home theater for our family room, but my spouse doesn’t like the way the equipment looks – How can we both get what we want?”
Happily for these couples, new solutions now allow everyone in the house to enjoy a home entertainment system whenever they desire, and when the show ends simply hit the “power off” button and watch the system vanish. And it’s all done with mirrors!
Several manufacturers have perfected designs that combine decorative mirrors and flat screen HD TVs. Seura, one of the first companies to develop the technology, makes such mirrors available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. These mirror TVs can be utilized in bathroom and bedroom suites, or be sized larger for installation over the fireplace mantel in your family room. A variety of mirror frame styles are also available. All you see in your room is a beautiful and appropriately placed mirror until you push the power on button and voila – the HD TV appears as if by magic from behind the mirror.
The second most visually objectionable audio video component in a home theater or home entertainment system is the speakers. But thanks to Stealth Acoustics, the numerous speakers required for home theater surround sound systems can be rendered completely invisible. The three front speakers, two surround speakers, and subwoofer are all installed behind the walls and ceilings of the room, and there are absolutely no ugly grilles to disguise. These home theater speakers are actually designed to use sheet rock or plaster walls and ceilings to reproduce music and movie soundtracks with excellent clarity and realism. Thanks to new technologies like these, you can make objections to installing a home theater system disappear like magic!
